Dear Young Water Professionals,

Would you like to be involved in the management of the Modelling and Integrated Assessment Specialist Group of the International Water Association?

The Modelling Integrated Assessment (MIA) specialist group (SG) is looking for motivated Young Water Professionals (YWPs) who want to join the management committee (MC) and contribute to carrying out the activities of the Group, with the guidance of experienced water professional (EWP). This is a great opportunity to grow and consolidate your professional career in this field while increasing your visibility and network of contacts. The call is open for the selection of 3 affiliated YWPs in the following positions:

  1. Public Relation (PR) Officer

Task: Responsible for coordinating all MIA promotional communications, such as the IWA Connect Group page postings.

  1. YWP Relation Officer

Tasks: Link the MIA YWPs and IWA YWPs; promote collaboration between YWPs among MIA and other IWA SGs; attract YWP members from different countries and regions for IWA and MIA.

  1. Liaison Officer

Tasks: Promote cooperation with other IWA SGs; involve water authorities and industry; coordinate MIA’s involvement in conferences and events.

 

Who is MIA?

MIA is one of SGs within the IWA and aims to address and promote all aspects of modelling, simulation as well as methods of applying systems analysis to manage and improve the quality of the aquatic environment. The MIA MC team currently comprises of 15 EWP members, including Ingmar Nopens (Chair), Ulf Jeppsson (Vice chair), Eduardo Ayesa (Past chair), Elena Torfs (Administrative coordinator), Domenico Santoro (Liaison officer), Kris Villez (Liaison officer), Andrew Shaw (PR officer), Xu Wang (YWP relations officer), Bing-Jie Ni (YWP relations officer), Marie-Noelle Pons (Webmaster), Peter Bach (Webmaster), Albert Guisasola (Event coordinator), Paloma Grau (Task- and working-groups coordinator), Xavier Flores-Alsina (Watermatex coordinator), Lina Belia (WWTmod coordinator), as well as 14 affiliated YWPs.

Benefits and responsibilities for Affiliated YWPs

After being selected, you will have many opportunities to be involved in the following tasks:

  • Participate in the online MC meetings
  • Collaborate and assist the tasks of the associated EWP members
  • Organize webinars within the topics of MIA
  • Organize workshops and other activities for YWPs
  • Organize or gain access to mentoring during conferences
  • Be a liaison of task groups and working groups in order to maintain the connection of these groups with MIA MC

Requirements

Before submitting your application package, please make sure you meet the following requirements:

  • Under 35 years old
  • IWA member (or steps taken to become IWA member)

Selection procedure

After the call is closed, all applications will be evaluated by all MC members, and affiliated YWPs will be selected by electronic voting in which all MC members are entitled to vote. Selected YWPs will be teamed up with the respective EWPs. The final results will be announced as soon as possible by the end of May 2018.
